It is a great pleasure to recognize Stop Our Shootings for its valuable contributions to the safety of California's youth.

As Governor, I have been committed to protecting our children from gun violence. I have made public safety a top priority, signing the toughest gun safety laws in the nation. Through the dedicated efforts of government leaders, law enforcement and community organizations, like Stop Our Shootings, the Golden State has become a safer place for our children. However, more work is required.

I salute the participants and supporters of Stop Our Shootings for their generous service to the community. Injuries due to gunfire are 100% preventable. Your program not only demonstrates how gun accidents can be avoided, but also provides assistance to victims and their families. You teach our children the serious, and sometimes deadly, consequences of handling guns.
