Dear Mr. Johanessen:

Thank you for contacting my office with information about Stop Our Shootings, Inc. It saddens me to hear of your daughter, Shanelle, which, unfortunately, is all too common of a story in our country today. I have also been touched by gun violence. In 1992, a gunman went on a rampage on the Long Island Rail Road and killed my husband and paralyzed my son. I felt it to be my responsibility to join the fight against gun violence. It brings me great pleasure to see that you have chose to do the same.

Gun violence prevention groups, such as Stop Our Shootings, Inc. are essential to the safety of our nation's children. As a country, we lose over 30,000 lives a year to guns. We must keep fighting until common sense gun laws are enacted.

I fully endorse Stop Our Shootings, Inc., and look forward to working with them in the future to save lives. I also thank you, Mr. Johannessen, for your efforts.
